Brightcove are a leading OVP (online video platform) managing and delivering video for hundreds of customers across the media, entertainment and enterprise sectors. Their platform offers a wide range of servies through a graphical user interface and via APIs and it was through these APIs that Spicy Mango was asked to deliver a new solution.

Challenge

A client of Brightcove needed a way to simply clip certain elements of their live streams for posting on social media. At the time Brightcove did not offer a user interface for this feature but it was possible using the APIs. The end users needed a simple user interface to enable them to select the clips they wished to share via social media to promote their events.

Solution

Spicy Mango set about developing an application and UI that would enable the client to select the stream they wished to clip and then select the in and out points for the clip. The interface was kept as clean as possible and made the video player as large as possible. The solution was developed and ultimately hosted in AWS.

Impact

The solution was developed and deployed in about 12 weeks in time for the client’s first event. User’s required little training or support to use the Clipper tool and so the joint goals of ease of use and functionality were met. The client was extremely pleased with the solution that Spicy Mango delivered for Brightcove.
