Our story

How it started

Spicy Mango was founded in 2013 by an architect and engineer, obsessed with the idea of providing a fanatical engagement model and experience driven by a personal, ethical and human approach to business.

Many years of dealing with, and working for, large telecommunications providers from the pioneering introduction of ABR video - and when 3GPP and WAP was still ‘a thing’ - quickly highlighted frustrations and challenges that we felt could easily be addressed. We wanted to bring together a team of forward thinkers with innovative ideas about how we would operate and behave differently to address common challenges in the industry.

The obstacles faced by clients and customers weren’t related to technology, they were related to process, and the pains of dealing with large product organisations that just couldn’t deliver professional services well.

We weren’t trying to do anything crazy or off the scale, we just wanted to do it better than the other guys.

Spicy Mango set out to deliver high quality professional services and products in the media, technology and telecommunications industry. We wanted to be nimble, responsive, and honest, while delivering solutions that meet business requirements, and that are architected for change. Our team produce solutions that have the ability to evolve, scale, and meet edge cases that you didn’t think existed when the idea was 'on the whiteboard'.

The culture of a business can’t be created, it’s ‘born’ out of the thought process, way of working, beliefs, and traits of the individuals that create it. You can’t write a culture framework on a piece of paper and expect it to just, work. Culture is what you find when you look back after 5 years of existence. To be able to ask if you’re operating in a way that you’re proud of - in a way that resonates with customers - whether people speak of well of your brand when you’re not in the room.

For us, being great engineers isn't enough, we want to be a great people. To operate with integrity and transparency. To show that we value the relationships and business opportunities, and that we’ll do everything we possibly can to go above and beyond, and make sure you love what we’re producing.

To this day, we strive to continue that ideal.

Over the years, he's played a pivotal role in the early adoption of leading technologies to drive OTT delivery worldwide through senior roles at global organisations. Chris has the design of over 40 global enterprise video platforms under his belt, and has worked with some of the biggest brands in the industry to drive multiplatform content distribution on a global scale.
